Julia Fassler, B.A.
Julia graduated from Hofstra University in 2018 with a B.A. in Psychology and a
minor in Disability Studies. She currently works with children with autism as a
Registered Behavior Technician. She is interested in studying the relationship
between social media and mental health in adolescents. She is also interested in studying the effects of growth mindset interventions on adolescents experiencing anxiety and depression. In the future, Julia intends to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
Undergraduate Research Assistants
Carolyn is an undergraduate studying psychology at Stony Brook University. She is a fourth year student in the B.A. program. She has a broad interest in mental illness in adolescents
Angeles is a sophomore at Stony Brook University on the pre-med track majoring in Biology and minoring in Studio Art. She is a member of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) and the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students. She also volunteered at a therapeutic riding center where children with mental illnesses received therapy through horseback riding. Through this involvement, Angeles gained an interest in learning about child development especially youth with mental illnesses. In the future, Angeles hopes to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician.
Briana is a senior at Stony Brook double majoring in Women's Studies and Sociology with a minor in Health, Medicine, and Society. She is interested in studying ways to develop and distribute accessible interventions to youth and adolescents affected by mental illness. After graduation she aspires to pursue a PhD and career in public health so she can help serve marginalized communities.
Akash is a junior at Stony Brook University pursuing a major in Business Management with a Chemistry minor while on the pre-medical track. His years of work with children and adolescents at a socio-spiritual organization has led him to be interested in the behaviors and attitudes of young people. He hopes to pursue medical school after graduation and aspires to a career in pediatric surgery.
Aleta is a sophomore on the pre-medical track at Stony Brook University pursuing a major in Health Science. Her experience working with autistic children and young adults throughout high school has driven her passion for community outreach and support for youth facing mental illnesses and challenges. Aleta hopes to go to medical school after graduation and continue to volunteer within her community.
